One of my favorite musicians of all time is Jon Foreman. He is well known for being the lead singer for Switchfoot. However, I love him more for his solo stuff. He is such a deep writer, sometimes even directly from Scripture and composing beautiful songs. One hit me this week. It’s called, “I Am Still Running.” Here’s the lines that hit me:
“Build me a home
Inside Your scars.
Build me a home
Inside Your song.
Build me a home
Inside Your open arms;
The only place I ever will belong.”
Isn’t it so true? We aren’t meant for this fallen, broken world. We were made to live in a perfectly created world with the most wonderful community with God. It’s something we’ve never known, because of the sin of Adam and Eve.
However, I can’t wait for the new Heaven and the new Earth. We’ll get to walk with God. Doesn’t that sound awesome? We get to walk with God. The living, breathing, loving Father. The one who sent Jesus to die for our sins. Whoa. That’s all I can say. I can’t wait to go to the world that I was meant for.
We often chase selfish, materialistic dreams in order that we could fill our hearts. Even a lot of Christians do that. We might not acknowledge it, but we do it. A lot. But, when we finally reach the place where we were made to go, all of our pains and heartaches will go away. I sure can’t wait for that day. What about you?
The song of the week is Jon Foreman’s “I Am Still Running.” Here it is:
Let me know your thoughts and ideas. I would LOVE to hear them.
God bless.
